Thank you so much for this program. I have volunteered several times in prisons through Toastmasters, working with people in prison on their public speaking skills and improving vocabulary. I was not allowed to bring **any** books into the prison to give to the prisoners when I taught, even when I was teaching vocabulary. A prisoner was very excited with a book I had showed the class--a thesaurus--and all he wanted was a thesaurus. I'll never forget that, how much he just wanted a thesaurus. Your program will make something like this possible. I am going through all my books trying to pack some up for your program. Thank you for being there.

Thanks for sharing your story about your experience dealing with prisons. Dictionaries and thesauruses are by far the most frequently requested books at PBP. It is humbling to realize what these simple books can mean to a prisoner.

I am in charge of a Books For Prisons project in North Florida. We have for 6 years been collecting and distributing books to facilites all over north Florida. We work with 2 prison librarians who screen and distribute the books.

We always need more books. Books that we collect that are not suitable are donated to the local Friends of the Library for sale in the group's semi-annual book sales.

We applaud everyone who takes the time to work with the inmates.
